Sketches in Thought

One of the greatest things about having a little one is that as they get older, they start to become more interested in what you are doing. My daughter is 3.5 years old now and likes to mimic the different activities we do.

We recently started pulling out our little wooden box that has different drawers for different art supplies. She was curious with each item–crayons (a comfortable favorite), charcoals, pastels, acrylic paints and water colors.

We had also bought two heavy stock art paper so that she could be able to use it for water coloring without it leaking through.

It’s nice to be able to sit down and draw/doodle/paint and then my little one will walk up next to me and pull out her art supplies and mimic what Momma or Daddy are doing.

Here is a quick sketch I put together of A.J. while testing out various drawing iPad apps.

I’ve been practicing sketching and drawing and just plain doodling on my iPad with my Wacom Bamboo Stylus Duo (pen and stylus) trying to find the best app for drawing.

I tried a couple of different ones, but my favorite one thus far has been Procreate. It’s the most robust app that I’ve come across that has a great variety of brushes, unlimited layers, and is a nice alternative to when I can’t get in front of a computer to open up Photoshop.
